Was this a field trial, or a hunt?

We planted 8 birds for her this morning. I do plan on putting her in a fun field trial soon.

Bird hunting behind a good dog is a beautiful thing. Image

I'd own a dog if I had some birds to hunt. The way things are now, I can't justify having a bird dog now though. Image

When Steve the Chow died at 18 yrs. old. My wife said no more Chow Chows. Steve was a dog bought by a previous girlfriend. That may have had something to do with that decision. I still have a cockateal that is 17 yrs. old from the same girlfriend. I have Steve's son Jake (14yrs. old). I figured you can't get more short haired than a pointer. I was looking for more stuff to do outside, so the search began for Jenna. It has been so much fun teaching this dog how to work, that I will probably get another Elhew pointer when Jake goes.

I can't blame you for having fun with your hunting dog. If I had the place for it, and some birds locally I'd be all about getting a bird dog.

Best of luck to you and Jenna.

Triton- She held that point for over a minute without budging. You can walk up to her and try to push her forward when she is on point, and she will push backward and stay pointed. Style is not something she lacks. I guess a lot of that is bred in.
