No sheds yet

Post by hunting170 » February 15th, 2006, 3:31 am

You wanna know why?...Because they haven`t dropped yet. I got the film out of a trail camera today that I have had out for 10 days. I have pictures of 14 different bucks, and all but one of those had both sides still on their heads. One of them had lost one side.

On a side note...I took the film to WalMart to have developed. When I picked it up, I looked at the pics right away. I was surprised to find that they weren`t my pictures. However the first two pics that I looked at were of a set of Image, cut off with the skull cap, on the ground, and propped up against the side of a pole barn. They were fuggin huge. I counted 9 points on the left side, and 10 on the right with incredible mass. There is no way they scored less than 200". From looking at a few more pics, the Image belonged to a Mennonite/Amish man. I have heard that it is against their beliefs to have deer mounted. I`m sure that very few people will ever get to see this rack. I wish I had kept one of those pictures. I would like for you guys to have seen it.

But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.

Some coyote hunters ran a draw across the road from my dad's place this weekend, in Greene County, IL. He said he watched 19 deer, including 2 "huge bucks" come out and run across the road to his place.

I had two does in the front yard last night.

I've also seen buck still have their racks in late March-early April.

Bigger bucks do tend to drop first though.

Driving around yesterday evening, I saw 2 bucks with one side missing, and 9 more with both sides still attached. Also had 4 more on the trail cam from last week that were still packin. I did find one small 4-point side, but it was from last year.
