Factory strings have gotten better. But, they still suck in my opinion. The first thing I do when I buy a new bow is put a new set of strings on it. With the prestretched strings, I can tune immediately and I am good to go. I still think he has clearance problems.

Don't feel bad PS, you've got to know more about this chit than I do. Other than shootin' them, and hunting with them, I don't know chit about archery.

I can tune a bow quite easily and I do know how to properly time the bow once it is on the press. However, I don't trust myself pressing a bow. That is why I sit and watch a professional do that stuff. I'm iffy with a chainsaw. Give me a bowpress and I'm liable to hang myself with it. But, I am a stickler for a properly tuned bow. So, that I can do. Furthermore, even the best strings do stretch with time. Winners Choice has a 1 year warranty on their strings. I experienced string stretch in November and just a few weeks ago replaced those strings with a new set of WC strings free of charge as the warranty hadn't expired. String stretch is one thing that drives me absolutely insane. It is amazing the lack of stretch you will see with these new strings. However, nothing lasts forever.

Dave: What I have found is that those fuggers that know the ins and outs of a bow very seldom know a GD thing about killing quality deer year in year out. I'll stick to not knowing poopoo about bows. But, I'll continue to whack a good buck every 2 or 3 years.

I wish I could argue that point MOC, I really do.

In the back of my mind I've always wondered how I would do on a completely new property.

IMO, The whole thing boils down to two points.

#1. Is there a quality deer on the place to begin with.

#2. Are you going to have the presence of mind to not fork it up before or during your big opportunity.

You can get into details and etc. etc., but if you can do that, you're doing as good as anybody, imo.

It's shocking when your first opp at a big one presents itself. You think you're ready, you really do.

At least you shot. I stood there gawking like the last one off the turnip truck. Image

Hobie, no one is "echoing" your statements (you stole that word from me). You only mentioned possible rest interference, while those of us who actually understand archery are suggesting it's more than that.

Mo, if'n ya "actually understood archery" you would realize that rest interference IS the answer in this case.

As far as stealin your word, you got me there. I guess I owe ya some type of compensation for that. I tell ya what, here's an IOU...

The only things that cause a tear like that are incorrect nock placement, incorrect rest placement, or having an arrow that's spined wrong (assuming your form is good). Of course, the bow could be completely off tune, in which case none of those things will help. Who tuned the bow? How did they do it?

I'm guessin this is what you are referring to?? Well, if ya read back aways, he said he moved the nock point... that din't work. Then he said he was shootin 29.5" ST Axis 340 at 69lbs with 100gr tips... that arrow has plenty of spine for what he's shootin. He also said the bow was brand new... so I think it's safe to assume that string stretch is not his problem. And since any monkey with a bow square and eyeballs can get a bow to center shot... I don't think that it is sooooo far outta tune that that is the problem. So what does that leave???

Been huntin with a bow since the late 80s. I figger it's just a luck thang. One of these days it'll happen... I just know it!
