MoCraig: On a fall-away rest, the position of the nocking point should be pretty much level with the berger button hole. You shouldn't even have to worry about center shot much if you are getting sufficient clearance.

WTF are you talking about? Of course you have to worry about centershot.

Re: High Vertical Tear
Best I can tell, Robin and MoCraig are prime examples of the individuals that I have mentioned above. They know the ins and outs of everything, yet can't kill poopoo worth mentioning.
I stand by the statement of not having to worry about it terribly much. Sure, you have to use some common sense. With perfect clearance, you should be able to set the rest upside down and three feet from the riser and still get decent arrow flight. I have to be within 1/16" of 13/16" from the berger button hole to have a perfect tear on my Outback. If I'm not there, I don't get a perfect bullet hole tear through paper. 13/16" is perfect center shot. So, in theory I'm not truly at center shot on the bow. Currently, I'm at 12/16" from the berger button hole. I shoot a WB. If it were that I was shooting a properly tuned fall-away rest, I don't think I would have to be so precise. Otherwise, why would you shoot a fall-away rest? heck, I even went to Westlake so that I could buy one of those fancy rulers so that I could measure stuff up and write it down when tuning a bow. I would also bet that with a perfectly tuned fall-away, you might be able to get away with minor issues due to arrow spine.
I should edit here. I would like to kill a big gar or buffalo. Those are worth mentioning. But, once in my life would suffice.

Re: High Vertical Tear
I don't know about that LP. Basically what I'm trying to tell these nutjobs is that with a properly tuned fall-away rest with 100% clearance, they can probably eyeball centershot on the riser and string, and be tuned very quickly, not having to worry about things much. Me, on the other hand, I have to have it down to about 1/16" one way or the other or I am screwed with the WB. But, it isn't really that difficult for me either now that I have some practice. Usually I can eyeball it and be very close.

Re: High Vertical Tear
I'm still around. I've been having fun reading my hijacked thread.
I'm a little closer to getting this thing tuned now. I spent 3 hours at a different archery shop and still couldn't get it tuned. I took it to a 3rd place and they spent 2 hours messing with it, with no luck. Finally another customer came in that had almost exactly the same setup as me. I noticed something different on his rest (same model). He didn't have a clear plastic washer on his that mine did have. He also had the instruction sheet for his, which mine did not come with. In the instructions, it said to discard the plastic washer, that it was just used in packing. So.... I removed the washer from mine and began tuning again. I got tired of messing with it and quit last night, but I was shooting about a figure eight when I quit. You would think that out of the dozen or so "pros" that had messed with my bow, someone would have caught the washer thing. I even pointed it out to one of the guys because it seemed to have the rest slightly cocked and he said it should be there.
Overall, a very frustrating experience, but at least now I am getting somewhere.

I thought I was having trouble when I was shooting a figure 4. Your problem is twice as bad as mine was.

Re: High Vertical Tear
PS, I wouldn't go that far. He read the instructions. Wow! what a novel idea. He also repeatedly failed to mention his thoughts regarding the rest being ?cocked? out of square on the bow. I don't know...that may have been a significant bit of info. Proves you can't troubleshoot over the internet unless you know who your talking to, may as well save your breath and recommend buying the book. Also proves that "pro's" who work at "pro" shops are sometimes nothing more than the lucky guy who got the job. This whole post is unfreak?in believable. Common sense is a wonderful thing; it?s unfortunate not everyone is born with it.

Toby: I've noticed that most "Pros" at the proshop don't know any more than I do. That isn't terribly much either.
