I grew up between Malden and New Madrid. That is probably about 25 miles NW of Caruthersville. From my house, you could see the smokestack of the New Madrid Power Plant and Noranda to the east as well as Riddle Hill (Crowley's Ridge) about 16 miles to the west. My fishin' trips consisted of bike rides to 8, 6, or 2 ditch as well as Little River or Floodway.

I was down there in Dec. chasin' ducks, right up to the Arkie line. If you haven't been back for a while, nothin' much has changed.

Well, those little towns down there do seem to just keep getting " darker ". Image

There is some pretty good duck hunting there along the Floodway drainage. Especially where Floodway, Little River, and Omar meet. Used to, you could have hunted anywhere down there and never would have had to ask permission. I understand times are a changing. Yeah, I know what you mean about darker. I'll never forget our baseball team putting it on Hayti one spring. We had to have a police escort out of town.

We played New Madrid in football. There was no need for jersey's, you could easily tell who was on which team.

Prayers to everyone affected-that was a devastating tornado. has anyone heard if they classified the tornado intensity yet (Fujita scale)?

The video on the school is about as close as you can get to actually being inside a tornado.

Also, did you hear the couple on the latest video? They were bickering the whole time about whether it was a tornado or not and whether it was heading towards them or not- all the time it was getting closer and closer and they were getting wacked with hailstones. Almost comical.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I was wanting them to turn the camera on themselves so I could see what "dumbass" really looked like. I did hear it was F3 when it hit Marmaduke, AR. Even though the thing was a half-mile wide, I guess it just didn't have the windspeed to rate it higher. I would have a freaking heart attack if I saw that thing coming toward my house.
