Re: Well....
It's a good time for the blues and channels. I believe the flatheads will be on nest for another 3 weeks or so.
I'd jug line 'em if I had time, and the inclination.

Re: Well....
I ain't really got the time, inclination or good local place to jug 'em. Have access to some washouts and nothing's getting close enough for me to attempt to stick 'em with a bow....so I'm just looking at some good old fashioned rod-and-reel fishing.

Re: Well....
If your fishing around the 70 mm of LOZ beware any 'Floating Logs' you may see or hook. Word has it a couple of 5 foot gators may og got turned loose down there.
Supposedly one has been seen at least four times, once up close. 'Supposedly' they may of been released around the buffalo creek area. Who knows...lol
Could bring new menaing to going fishing and 'getting some tail.'

Re: Well....
If those bad boys make it down the lake aways, that could make party cover VERY interesting!

LAKE OF THE OZARKS - Officers investigating reports of an alligator prowling the lake say it may be a case of mistaken identity and not a reptile set loose or lost in the lake.
The Missouri Water Patrol is investigating a call that came in more than a week ago from a resident who said he saw what appeared to be an alligator in the lake.
The alleged sighting of the reptile was near the 70-mile marker in the Buffalo Cove area.
The call came to the Morgan County Sheriff?s Department, which forwarded the complaint to the Missouri Department of Conservation. From there it went to the Missouri Water Patrol.
A second sighting of an alligator was reported last week on the Gravois Arm.
So far, Water Patrol officers following up on the sightings have not been able to verify the existence or find any physical evidence to support the allegations of an alligator in the lake.
They say it is possible someone who had an alligator(s) as a pet got tired of it and dumped it in the lake.
As far as survival, during the summer months an alligator would be able to survive in warm waters of the lake and fish would provide a steady food source.
Unless it is captured before winter and moved to a warmer climate, the alligator would not be able to tolerate the colder weather and drop in water temperature that comes with the change in seasons.
MDC fisheries experts said it is possible that what was sighted was mistaken for an alligator and is one of the larger species of fish that are native to Missouri waters.
According to MDC, this is not the first time in the recent years rumors of an alligator on a lake have surfaced. A similar sighting was reported on a lake in southwest Missouri where a 3-foot alligator was found.
This is also not the first time there have been sightings of the strange and unusual on Lake of the Ozarks.
Several years ago, reports surfaced of an alleged submarine prowling the waters of the lake.
The Water Patrol never did sight a periscope. Reports of pythons slithering on docks, Santa Claus making his rounds in July on a personal watercraft, amphibious cars, inflatable dragons and gorillas are fairly common.

They'll admit it's possible LO has alligators, but still say MO has no cougars.

Re: Well....
One report, second hand, was of a guy who seen it up close and personal. Supposedly he seen a shads head sticking up out of the water and investigated. What he seen over the side of his boat was a 5 foot alligator.
Several other sightings were reported by others in the area.
Anoter report by a resident was a gent near buffalo creek was supposed to of turned his two 5 foot pets loose. The resident knows the gent and knows he 'had' the two gators. He just dosent know if he did actualy turn them loose as a mutual frined told him he did.
One. They would'nt admit to a gator of ANY kind in LOZ. Can you imagine what that would do to the toruist trade there?
Two. Gators live through the winters in central and northern arkansas so i imagine they could in a lake the size of LOZ as well.
He!!, we had piranahs in smithville last year...lol
