LOZ 4/17
Fished the MO state Elks tourney on LOZ out of Osage Beach. We pretty much stunk it up. I caught a lot of shorts, but no keeps. Cuz had 3 keeps, but that didn't make the cut. The keeps came on a rig, and my shorts were on a wart. The water temp was 63, and the water in the Osage Beach area was dirty, and clearer up the Glaize. I can't give more details because I was lost most of the day. I had never been on the lake before, and if Cuz had had a stroke, I wouldn't have been able to find the truck! I have always heard that the water was rough up there, but I never dreamed it was THAT rough. If I had to fish there all the time, my golf game would be a lot better. It was scary.

Drove all around the lake today from camdenton all the way over to the gravois arm, lots of bass boats out.
Watched a 40 foot cruiser try to sink a bass buggy with it's wake down by the bridge at osage beach...lol
Compared to summertime with all the boat traffic the lake was calm today dude, real calm...lol

Bullitt - hopefully you didn't think we were kidding you about the safety thing. That place can be Elm Street in the middle of a nightmare, and it only gets worse as the season gets going. I've got an acquaintance with a 36 foot offshore boat. They won't take it there. I prefer whitecaps from the wind to that place on a nice day. Especially on a nice day!
Re: LOZ 4/17
32 footer got sunk by a BIG boats wake down there last year that i know of...lol
After dark though when the bars are full that lake is smooth like glass.

Wolfie, I'm usually up for anything, but that was insane. I guess they'll just keep killing one another until someone with enough money sues the right guy. I don't know how the boat held together, and Cuz was just trying to stay on plane. How bad is it when the bars close? That might get interesting, too!

Re: LOZ 4/17
It's hard to tell when the bars close on the main lake. Luckily, it isn't all at once. Traffic keeps pretty steady after dark in the summer until 2 or 3 am. But it's not like daytime. The speed limit keeps most boats slowed down, just enough for 'em to really plow some water. I was fishing a main lake point about 2:30 am a couple of years back, and had a wave come over the bow of my boat while we were sitting still. The place is amazing. I want to mount a .50 on my front pedestal and go freak some of them bugger's out. I've had dreams about sneaking around the lake after dark with thermite grenades. Anything over 30 foot gets a present. Then I wake up mad because my boat can't carry that much ordinance at once. I have heard of people going in after dark and
in somebody's $100,000 cabin cruiser. However, most boats I have in mind cost more than that.

I can't say that I didn't have fun. I met a lot of really nice folks at the Elks Lodge, and they fed me good, too. I just wasn't prepared mentally for that whole scene. It's getting worse and worse on my end of TR. Sure hate to see it happen.
If it ain't got a trolling motor on it, don't bring it above the Shell Knob bridge. I'll shut up now.

Bullit, did you go toward the dam at the Ozarks? What was the water temp and what was the water clarity where you were at...You probably said in the thread earlier but Im too lazy to scroll up while in the midst of typing...Yep, thought so.....
That's funny you don't look Druish.
Re: LOZ 4/17
Down around the dam is about the worst, get some of the real BIG ocean going barges chuging around. Farther up the lake you get the better it gets though even around the gravois arm it's crazy during the day. Over around McCubbins point/Ft Wood Rec area it's wild in daylight but almost dead calm after dark.
It's turned into a power struggle like the cold war was. John gets a big boat so sam gets a bigger boat, charlie has to have one bigger then sam and sue wants one bigger then charlie ect. Most have more money then sense. Buying a 100,000 dollar boat is to them like buying a lawn tractor to most. Lawsuits are a way of life for many of them...lol
Course them scaley vermin chaseing BASS boats don't help none! I read somewhere the other day they held something like 385 tournaments on LOZ last year. Now i don't know if thats all types of tournaments or just bass but does it matter?...lol
SB, just start picking up all the road killed skunks you find alongside the road. Extract the essance from the musk gland with a syringe. After you get a gallon or two mix with glycerin and water and make you some water balloons. You do a driveby and start chunking one into each barge you see their going to be sitting idle for awhile...lol
Just make sure and don't spring a leak in your own...rofl

Re: LOZ 4/17
That might get me evicted from my house! She made me quit using skunk scent as cover during deer season because I spilled a bottle in the garage.
Re: LOZ 4/17
That just goes to show you it works...lol Can't you see some bikini clad babes chargeing off some 40 foot cruiser going EEWWWWWWWW!...lol
You know, they used to make a .68 belt fed paintball gun. You had one of those and pintal mounted it on the bow of your boat i bet they would give you the right of way. They did'nt im sure the paint would do wonders for the gel coats. It will eat paint off a car...lol

Re: LOZ 4/17
I wonder if I took a syringe with a little needle, sucked up some skunk spew, injected it into paint balls, . . . .
Re: LOZ 4/17
It works but you have to be VERY carefull about how and where you puncture that paintball. Then use a tiny drop of superglue...lol
I can't remember the name of it now but that full auto belt fed gun would rattle out about 600 PB's a minute. Paint a boat in NO time...lol
