End Near?

Found some real nice tall yellow morels today, but I found as many if not more that were already too far gone. Some places there would be one really fresh morel right next to 4 or 5 decomposed ones the same size, crazy weather I guess.

Went out in the rain last evening for about 1/2 hour. Found 5 big tall yellows. All really fresh, but I think we are on the tail end of things down here in extreme southern Mo.
It rained ALOT yesterday and rained ALL night last night and it's still raining. TR lake is coming up fast.....

They come up in groups from the same mycellium, so the decomposed ones were from an earlier rain event and the fresh ones are more recent. I would think the similar size is due in part to consistent moisture and coming from the same mycellium.

I have a property I search every year here in Western MO, and I'm finding them now in areas where they come up towards the end of the season. Based on my experiences with that property, you probably have another week or so in west-central Missouri.

Found several fresh ones yesterday. The larger yellow ones.

I went to the local Wal-Mart a couple hours ago, and on the way there the road parallels some RR tracks that are raised about 10'. I saw a dude walking along the bottom looking at the hillside to the tracks, and carrying a plastic bag that looked like it was half full of 'shrooms.
