Hookset, the best advice is to develop thick skin or have big kwahonies.....Sooner or later, you're are going to be on the bottom of a big dog pile.... Image

LOL, I wasn't offended my Mocraig, just trying to use fewer words. It takes a lot to get through my skin.

kwahonies???

I think you mean "cajones," which is the Spanish word for testicles.

One. Just last week.

I did carry a rifle a couple times during firearms season this year though. No excuses though.

Yeah, until last week, I hadn't fired a shot at a deer with a rifle in 2 years. But, that is about my average anyway whether I carry one or not. I haven't killed anything terribly good with a gun (some would say a bow as well). Today's MLs may as well be considered a rifle. On out-of-state hunts for deer and hopefully elk someday, I'll probably continue to carry a gun some of the time. I didn't pick it up last year and was a bit disappointed that I picked it up this year. I would say I was about 50/50 bow:gun during rifle season. Just depended on what side of the bed I woke up on.

The places I hunt are brushy. I can be about as successful with a bow as I can with a rifle.

Whatever happened to that "hookset" guy? He almost seemed like he was gonna be a playa.

I took the rifle out once this year. Just doesn't excite me much. Of course if'n a woulda seen a biggun I'da kilt him none-the-less. A bow is alot more fun... even when you're whackin sammiches, slicks, or bambis.

That is true. Both cripple 120 inch deer equally.

To me, bowhunting is about the hunt and the experience that goes along with it. Rifle hunting is more about the getting together with my hunting buddies, giving each other a load of crap, and then helping them drag one out. I shoot very little with a rifle anymore, as I am typically the first guy to get down and help another guy out. I firearm hunt with 4 other guys, and of those, only 1 bowhunts, so it is all they get, and they still get pretty excited about it, so it is just as much fun for me to see them all excited when they shoot something, and help them drag it out. I typically hunt about half as much as the rest of the gang because of this, but I always have bowseason to fall back on so it isn't a big deal.
