07 Custom Calls
If any of you have requests for custom turkey calls for this spring, I'm more than willing to get your order in now so that you'll have it in plenty of time to hunt with.

Re: 07 Custom Calls
I want one. I'll leave it up to you as to what it is, as I have not picked up a turkey call in well over 20 years. But I have been wanting to get back into it, and maybe a new call will get me heading in the right direction.
My only request is that you use Missouri-native wood. None of that purple chit or anything like that - oak, hickory, walnut - something like that. Or osage orange - if you can find some of it.
Oh - and put it on Smitty's tab. He's a gazillionaire.

I just want mine to be glass, and to sound good. Walnut would be nice, but I'm not picky.

Dave, I have a piece of walnut with your name on it already. Should be cured perfect by now. Glass it is.
JD, missouri hardwoods it is, and are you suggesting a slate or box call? If slate, what striking surface?

Re: 07 Custom Calls
TT - I am thinking slate. Regarding surface - I am leaving this up to your expertise. Like I said - it's been a loooong time since I have turkey hunted. I have not kept up with any of this chit. If there is something that is better for someone that doesn't know what the fork they are doing - that would probably be best for me...

Re: 07 Custom Calls
Leaving it to TT is a good idea, he knows his chit when it comes to turkeys.
I like glass, just because of the mello tone and no worries with weather. Some like aluminum for weather and the higher pitched sounds that carry better. Slate is for the pure traditionalist, but they do sound great in dry weather.

Dave, be quiet. Your call is going to be a walnut bowl with corn in it. Just shake it and the yard birds come running.

This year, I swear I am going to try to kill every turkey I see. Hen, gobbler, poult, I'm going to kill it. Also, I use every means possible to get it done.

Chit Craig. They are a work of art. I won't use mine in fear of fornicating it up.

You don't remember the multi colored one with the "button" on the handle?

I don't think I want a new one this year, but if I get it back to you, can you add some bling? A "Trick My Call" sort of thing? Add some grills, mohair, fuzzy dice, curb feelers, and the like?

Re: 07 Custom Calls
TTtN...do you have a catalog? I know I`ve seen pics of your calls before, but I can remember them good enough to ask for anything specific. One way, or another, I would like to get my hands on a custom call this spring.
One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman who did not whine, nag, or bitch.
But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.

Re: 07 Custom Calls
Missed this one 170... I don't really have a catalog so-to-speak... All of my custom calls are hand turned on a lathe and each is unique. I can make them out of almost any wood and and surface. I also make box calls. Often if you order a call from me, you'll be telling me what type of wood and surface. Then I'll work something up and you'll get a cool design.
