Ya know

Post by BornBad » May 9th, 2004, 8:30 am

that feeling you get when fishing from a dock, having just casted out and brought taught to the line. Then for whatever reason, you just lay the rod down to mess with the stringer.. And in a hair of a second, your $170 reel/rod combo launches off the dock, torpedoes into the water and trails to a fade..

I know that feeling very well now, it kinda sux on more than one level. Image

You need to get a rod holder....or quit using that bait.

I had a buddy that got a little lazy one day and didn't strap his rods since he was just gonna run across the lake to another fishing spot. Well, in that short run he hit a wave and watched helplessly as 5 Loomis Rods with Shimano reels bounced right outta the boat!! Total loss = bout $1500.
That hadda hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was drunk the day my momma got outta prison.

1. Thats why God gave you two hands. One to hang onto the rod and theother to mess with the stringer!...lol
2. Learn to swim. Fish can drag a $170 rod/reel only so fast. Image

Nah .... the secret is rope. See you gots your people like fish who go buy some fancy clamp on rod holder. What good does that do? Oh sure, it keeps your rod from submarining. But if you use a short piece of rope, with just a little slack in it, it'll do the same thing AND set the hook for ya!! Then your hands are free for Image

I learned a long time ago to take things in stride and laugh at myself. I ain't had the best luck, but there's a lot of people out there that have it a lot rougher. It's all about perspective!! Image Like I tell my boy...in hillbilly-ese....be happy for what ya got and don't worry about what ya ain't got.
