A couple more for Kristen

Post by Robin@AimLow » November 19th, 2007, 7:13 pm

After making her own mind up on passing two young bucks, Kristen nailed these two does. Had a great time.

As usual...I cannot for the life of me figure out how to post pix on here, so...no pic.

Awesome! Congrats. I think it is really cool that she is passing on deer already, I have a hard enough time convincing some adults they should do that!!! Way to go guys, looks like Aimlow is having a heck of a year.

The first buck she passed came straight towards us at 40 yards and I told her I thought it might be big enough and just to let me know before she shot (I was running the cam). She had it in the scope at 20 yards broadside and looked up and said, "Dad, it's just too small." I was floored, cause I really thought if a buck came along she wouldn't have the muster to really let it go. Turned out to be a good call cause it was a fairly wide deer, but extremely short tines...probably a 1.5 yr old that just happend to grow out instead of up.

She even talked me into staying to hunt Sunday eve so she could keep trying for a buck. Earlier this season I questioned whether or not she really wanted to keep hunting (the whole teenage years thing) but we had quite a fun weekend.

Oh ya, forgot to mention after she told me that buck was too small, the next thing she said was "I could drop him so easy right there." Kinda funny hearing that out of her mouth...

That is a great story. She has more discipline than a lot of guys I know!!! Sounds like she is probably into this hunting thing for awhile and that is pretty dang exciting. Hope her patience ends up with a giant one of these days. Look what it did for Keith!!!

Having the dicipline and confidence to pass on deer/bucks is a huge step. Once a hunter can do that in the heat of the moment, there isn't much left to getting a trophy but time and opportunity.

You know Dave, that is actually a very intelligent statement. (and coming from you that is something) Image I couldn't agree more.

Tell your daughter congratulations! I have two teenage hunting daughters and it is always a joy to spend time with them and watch them grow as a hunter and a person.

BTW, my 16 year old was fortunate enough to add another buck to her resume this year. Only seven points, but would probably score around 110".
Don't argue with an idiot, people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

Robin, have you had any luck this fall?
