Jefferson County CA's

Post by bsktball55 » September 29th, 2008, 12:46 pm

Has anyone hunted the Conservation Areas in Jefferson County? The ones I am looking at are Young CA Victoria Glades, and Valley View Glades area. Just wondering if any of them are worth checking out.

The fact that they are glades probably means pretty tough walking and less than desireable deer habitat...just my 2 cents though.

I used to hunt Victoria Glades a lot. I grew up less than 5 miles from there, and knew the lady who let me hunt her 240 acres next to that CA. Lots of turkeys around there. Very steep land, but it has been bow only for quite some time. There were very few deer there when I was hunting it, but that was before the archery only rules. Shot one deer out there during gun season when I was in high school, but I must have killed several truck loads of squirrels.

Lots of oaks, and fairly thick scrub, hills, hills, hills.

It used to get over run during firearms season, and there were a lot of tresspassers that came onto the private land. That area is flat loaded with idiots.

I picked these three areas because they all had 3 stars for deer hunting on the conservation's website. I've never been to any of them so just looking for any information you could give me. Thanks for your help so far.

How about Magnolia Hollow in Bloomsdale. On the river nice deer and turkey habitat. Oh, and some woodcock.
