Here is his recount:
Guys,
Many of you wanted the scoop, so here it is. Yesterday morning, I wasn't even planning to hunt because I was a little irritated in the season, you know, many days and nights with nothing to show for it. But Kenny talked me into going out for just a couple hours in the morning before we had to head home. So, on borrowed time (last day of gun season) and a borrowed 50 cal muzzle loader from Kenny, I went out to sit in the most northern stand at the farm. It was about 20 degrees with a wind coming from the east. I sat in the GAP stand. It was cloudy, I was in the stand by 6:15. About 7 am, I hear something coming from my back and to the left, I figured it was a doe, but I just wanted to take it. I grab the gun and wait until it clears the tree so I can get a good look at it. Remember, this is about 10 yards from the stand! When this monster appeared, old, ugly, knarly, rack and still in velvet! I get the gun up, wait until he clears the tree that SMOKED him, check out the hole! He ran down the hill through the cedars and I heard him crash, blood trail was awesome! I have more pictures if you want to stop by, but here are the stats.
1 - Assuming you use the old "if you can hang a ring on it" its a point, he scores 29. If you count the little stub on the underside of his right beam, it would be considered a TURDY POINT BUCK!!
2 - Assuming you score a non-typical the same way you do the regular, we green measured him last night at 187 give or take because of the mass on that boy.
I personally don't care either way, he's ugly and beautiful and I will probably never be able to top him. His body is huge, and we estimate probably 5 and a half years old. He's hanging in the shop for any of you nonbelievers!
