I put in for #96 (Whetstone Creek) for my son and I.

Do you know anything about Prairie Fork Creek, Swamp Fox? Apparently it is owned by MU or something like that. I found very scant info about the place - apparently it is just north of Williamsburg.

This is what I've found.

Directions:
Click on the map at the right for a detailed locator map. Or click here for an aerial view of Prairie Fork.

Exit Interstate 70 at the Williamsburg Exit (Exit 161).
Take State Route D North into Williamsburg (0.4 miles) and follow Route D as it turns west (2.3 miles).
Route D will turn south and cross Interstate 70.
Stay on Route D for 1.9 miles.
The main entrance road into Prairie Fork will exit to the east off of Route D.

I'm betting it is a prairie restoration.

Looks like it is only about 10-12 miles from my house on the south side of I-70.

So does this mean you can go out and scout it for me and hang a few stands? If you need help, just ask Shawn - apparently he is an expert...

From what I see on the net, there is no mention of hunting but lots of info on educational opportunities.
I think it's a 700 acre outdoor classroom.

Craig, you keep talking like that and I will take you to one of my stands and not give you directions back to the truck...you will be wandering around for days.

JimDog, no expert here, just lucky a lot.....

Now, get out there and get my stands hung, and do it at a decent height this time. Also, make sure to use enough steps this time. I'm no tree squirrel like you.

How about pitching in for a few more tree steps? I may as well just buy a whole box of the dang things. Image

James A. Reed hunt here.

Jimdog, I went through the same thing with my oldest. Old enough to hunt, but not old enough to have a hunters ed card, which is required on the youth hunts. He got his late last year, so he is in the drawing this year at Smithville.

Where did you put in for Dave? You asked, but didn't tell.

Longview Nov 25-Dec10. In '04 the odds of drawing were 3%. Image

Read, dumbass. Image

See Craig - that is the thing about you. You think people pay attention to you. I learned a long time ago not to take anything secondhand for gospel.

It is easy for you to say something easy like "Read, dumbass." You even make it look grammatically eloquent. That is good for a person like you and I know it made you feel almost six feet tall probably.

But, if you go back and read my post, you will indeed see that it stated, "You asked, but didn't tell."

Notice it didn't say, You asked, but Mocraig didn't tell...or, You asked, but nobody told on your behalf. You see, the operative word was "you" - meaning Dave in this instance.

I appreciate you trying to puff your chest and let everyone know you are the no all, be all, again.

But in closing, I guess I have just one thing to say....

You really should spend more time researching, and less time talking about how great you are.

When you scout your own areas, hang your own stands, and can find your own way to and from the hunting area without a hand held device, I might start considering your advice.

Until then, just keep on with the spelling and grammar work.

Yep, I got a couple scratches and cuts putting up stands, and cutting some shooting lanes this past weekend. You should try it sometime.

I put in for the modern rifle hunt at Prairie Forks Creek in Callaway county.

Which hunt? They've got 3. I've been there and put in again this year. If you're just hunting for does, you'll have plenty of chances, the bucks are a different story since you have to go check a doe in first.
