Well, I took him to Veitnam and back. No GPS either.

That's the problem with my new place. The cover just isn't thick enough imo. I'm going to drop a few trees on the south end, and a few more here and there, plant some honeysuckle and black berries and just let the chit junglefy.

ImageThat sounds like the name of a Spike Lee film.

I've been slacking lately in the word-smithing department. I thought I should step it up a bit.

I saw about 5 last night up on the hill, but I think I only caught the middle of the herd. Over the weekend, there were 9-10 walking single file through there.

These really cold temps have caused the deer to do something I've not seen in some time. They are yarding up and groups as big as 50 or 60 are holding in small areas.

Yeah, it's called winter.

By the way, we're going to be stopping by BP tomorrow. You need to buy us lunch.

I enjoy your clueless and blissfully ignorant way of proving yourself as a colossal jackass time and time again.

Its not typical for here, yarding up I mean. In the north and north east it happens every year, but not in my experience for the midwest. This has been an unusually hard winter for MO though.

I would agree with you WM if you strictly looked at the last ten years or so of winter weather; however I remember some pretty harsh winters as a kid here in MO and seeing 30, 40, 50+ deer herding together regularly.

TTTN - Exactly brutha...on both counts...the deer herding up and GWH's ability to "shine".

It's not uncommon to see groups of 10-12 this time of year around the farm. Never had 14 of them in the yard before, as long as we've owned the place. This is also the first time I've seen a group of 30+ feeding in the same field. Saw a group of about 25 or so last night about a mile or so from where I saw the group of 30+.

TTN,

Yesterday, I saw a group of about 40 one my way home. It reminded me of when I lived in Nebraska. I commuted between Lincoln and Omaha. During January and February, there were a couple of large fields that it was not uncommon to see 100+ deer in nightly.

I've seen herds of 20 or 30 on the HFA before the slaughter occured. Used to see groups of 50-100 about a mile south of there. Nothing new in my book.
