Re: Deer Survey
Well, maybe I should have left the "if not" part off of there. I stand corrected. I always find something to correct the mishap. From here on out, if the MDC doesn't start listening to what I say, I'm gonna quit looking for roadkill and begin roadhunting.
Truth is, as much as I support the MDC and many of their workers, I am about ready to put them under the gun and bring this 1/8 of 1% sales tax to a vote every 5 to 10 years. In that way, at least they might listen to the outdoorsman for a change. John Cauthorne wanted to do this a few years ago if they didn't begin the liberal harvest of deer in NEMO. Farmers were the vast majority of his constituency. While Mr. Cauthorne and I share the same political foundation, I'm ready to put them under the gun for exactly the opposite.

Re: Deer Survey
I would like to avoid a vote, but I do want them to listen to some outdoorsmen more. Not all outdoorsmen, like PS or Snowflake, but the goods ones.
The Doctor said I should drink more whiskey. Also, I'm calling myself 'The Doctor' now.

Re: Deer Survey
I would love to see it voted upon. I know it would never pass, but it might make things a bit interesting in Jeff City. For once, the MDC might listen to outdoorsmen and not just the legislature.

PS, whether you are a dumbass or not I can't disagree with you when you say something that makes a lot of sense. I don't think it will ever happen but I still agree with what you said. I also read your well articulated post about this on another forum.
Re: Deer Survey
Why listen to anyone when you know that the money will always be there and you can basically do with it whatever you want. Kind of like being a spoiled rich kid.
That's funny you don't look Druish.

Fishin: Are you going to step in here and bring us all back to reality once again?
Well, as you guys know, a few things happened out around our properties a few years back that really set me off. I've contacted the right people, talked to folks "in the know", and all I see anymore is a "yes man" attitude. Folks will agree with you but will not speak up in fear of retribution (purely speculation on my part here). Best answer I have gotten is that all of the decisions come from Jeff and are not necessarily supported by sound biological evidence or studies. The only way to change someone's mind in Jeff is to write your local senator or representative.

Re: Deer Survey
I love Missouri, and the Missouri Department of Conservation.
I would like to see the 1/8th sales tax brought to a vote every 4 years though.

Re: Deer Survey
There is really not much left to say at this point. I agree with PS and rainbow both, the sentiment of this entire thread is dead on.
The 4 year vote idea is great but I doubt that it would ever pass a vote again, so that would be akin to slitting ones own wrists as sportsmen. The "yes man" attitude will not change unless there is some sort of legislative responsibility. The MDC is kind of like being in trouble with the wife and trying to get laid, you can try all you want but your pleas fall on deaf ears.
