Fellows Lake 8/11
Arrived at Fellows to watch the lightning display off to the south, but we were never bothered. Trolling crawlers and bottom bouncers for walleyes in the main arm was a waste of good crawlers. A few whites were working on top at the east end, but neither jigs nor topwater could get them to hit, so we went to the secondary arm south of the buoys at the dam and started casting for bass with plastic worms. That bank is loaded with stumps and we had a lot of hangups, but were rewarded with a lot of hits. BB had the hot hand with 8 or 9, and I got....uhhhhhhh...well, I didn't strike out. Could not figure out why the fish were so disinterested. It was cool, completely overcast, and pretty much a perfect day to be out fishing. The bass all came from about 10' deep. Black power worms and green salt craws were both working well.

Re: Fellows Lake 8/11
We started out on the east end with all the weedbeds. My leaders were coming in wrapped in milfoil, hydrilla, or whatever name it goes by up here. There were several other boats out on the lake, and as you know, you can see pretty much the entire lake from anywhere. We saw one small crappie caught the entire time we were out. One of the fisherman in another boat was complaining to three people in another about how the fish should be biting, given the conditions. BB & I were just as perplexed, but just kept plugging away. We finally found a semblance of a bite with the bass and plastic worms. The walleyes will pay for their neglect one of these days. I was just happy to be out on unfamiliar water without the usual August heat. Rumor has it that a couple of boats are going to put in at Mutton Creek early tomorrow morning...maybe Mr. Morris wouldn't miss you until noon or so....yeah, right. Anyway, Hunter 91 is going to ride with me while we see if anything is working in the flats. BB is taking his boat and going up to the dam area, then come back on the Little Sac arm and try to find some fish around Masters. If the trip out with me doesn't totally scare off Hunter 91, he will soon be a regular walleye chasing guy.....I think we will probably drag some regular bottom bouncers with crawlers to start with, then maybe speed up with a couple of crankbaits and see what happens. This time I will have the map with me and can have some clue which way to turn the boat to stay on the contour. BTW, something has got to change.....the front deck of my BASS boat is starting to look like the cockpit of a 747 with all the electronic stuff bolted down up there. If the trend continues, I may have to install a generator from an RV just to power all the gadgets. Wonder what MDC would say about a bass boat with a big generator bolted to the floor.......probably have a very low threshold of humor. Looks like it will be pretty cool tomorrow morning...just hope the wind stays laid down.
