Have to admit I was holding off this week with the hope of breaking news of crappie on the banks, however, Mother Nature is still holding things up. These cool nights continue to slow the process. While several folks are telling me they are able to locate large numbers of crappie right where they should be on the banks, they seem to have lock-jaw. The weather is predicted to be quite nice this weekend, we just have to wait and see if a degree or two kicks it all in gear. The rest of the story is that I have heard a lot of nice sized crappie being caught both in the old channel and on the running side of the dam here at The Tailrace. I would not be suprised to see a huge amount of crappie taken here this weekend. The whites and hybrids have been great in the evenings and at least a few caught here and there through the day. A few walleye still being caught especially just after dark. Cats continue to bite as well. Had two 40 lb flathead weighed in yesterday one caught on nightcrawlers the other on a glow green Slab Hunter with a ultra light crappie rod (that's fishin'!) The snaggers have also been doing well this week. The running water has finally brought a lot of spoonbill upriver here in the Warsaw area to the point of quite a few being caught (and released of course) here below the Dam. All around a good time to be out at the water whatever you fish for. Don't miss out!
