A DOUBLE LIMIT!!!!!

Post by bullitt » July 24th, 2005, 8:01 pm

Yes I caught 2, count 'em 2, short walleye out of TR this AM. I feel so very, very fortunate. I think I've got 'em dialed in! Image Image

UPDATE: I related a story a couple of weeks ago about a 12+ 'eye being caught out of TR on a hand poured plastic bait. My neighbor ran into the purported angler, and the guy gave him 2 of the baits. The bass mangled the first, and a 22in 'eye mangled the other. The bad news is that the dough-head didn't keep the used baits. I was sure one of you could copy it. Image

Congrats bullitt!! We went Saturday on TR trolling cranks. No 'eyes but did wade through some xxl whites to 3.5lbs and a few kentuckies. Anyone who can catch a few walleyes on TR has my respect Image

Bullitt....yep, one of us could have made a plaster mold and poured a few of those gems....if there's a chance to get one of those baits, grab it. Ozark has a friend "up north" who can do magic with hand poured lures.

I knew you could knock off that bait if I just could have snagged one. Oh well.
The 'eyes came on a bouncer/crawler in 20FOW. Yes, I was trying. Man that hurts, HW! Image Image

Bullitt....You are doing very well.... Bouncer / spinner / crawler at Tablerock and catching 2 walleyes on the same morning is quite a feat. Nicely done...!!! Image

By the way. Was the story of the 12 pounder for real ??

I have seen no credible confirmation of the 12lb fish. If I do, I'll post the details.

Bullitt:

Have you ever tried fishing Kings River Arm of Table Rock Lake? I hear that there is some good walleye fishing there in the spring. This is why I am SCARED to death of putting on a tournament at Table Rock. Everybody could blank. If only 1 fish could win Bull Shoals(on two different occasions) and Stockton(on one occasion in the past), then we could all go home without seeing a legal walleye on Table Rock. Until I get more hard evidence of walleyes being caught, NO Dice on Table Rock for a walleye tournament. Norfork wasn't a stretch, and we will probably KEEP that tournament in the future due to the # of fish caught and the percentage of anglers fishing it who caught fish compared to the number of anglers fishing the tournament.

I don't know, a walleye tournament on TR in the spring might be fun. Maybe the same weekend that Heartland or Central Pro-AM are there. A bunch of guys dragging boards @ 2.5MPH meeting up with a bunch of guys running WFO. What could be better? Image Image
Just pack a first-aid kit and listen for the gunshots!
You're right though, I don't think the 'eye population would support a tournament yet.

El Presidente, why don't you consider some fun tournaments to test the water, and get an idea of potential on lakes like TR, Pomme or LOZ. Call them warm ups or something with only 1 fish weighed. You could have them in the Spring and possbly use them to draw in new members.

El Presidente.... The upper White River at Tablerock is as good or better then the Kings River in my opinion.
And probably a few other guys that fish those parts of TR alot. What's say Hogwild ?? Bullitt ??

Yes I belive right now White river has a better population of walleye's compared to Kings. 4 or 5 years ago I don't know it would have been hard to compete with Kings river. For some reason the catch's are WAY down on Kings river. This was my first year to fish White river and we did not start fishing there until a little later in the spring but out of 15-20 trips to the White river 1 time did someone not catch a walleye out of our group which was usually 3 guys. The current from Beaver Dam seemed to help to catching fish earlier in the day, the bite on kings would not start till around 3 p.m. on the White river it would go all day. My first trip to White river I lost a very big walleye, hooked her at 2:30 p.m., my next trip 2 days later I caught an 8 lber TR saw me net her. From then on I was a White river beliver. For as a tournment on TR it would be a big chance.

Yes, I did see Shannon net that pig. It looked like an easy 10 pounder from 40 yards away, but the scale said 8 something. That was either my first or second trip up there and I too became a believer. I'd like to add that Hogwild was very open and showed me how he was rigged and how he was fishing. A really good guy. That's again Shannon. Image
