A good 22.

Post by Warmouth » August 25th, 2005, 12:53 pm

What would be your pick for a quality 22 lr?

My next gun purchase will be a decent 22, not an Anschuetz or Kimber, too much $, but something accurate and dependable, not semi auto.

There's only a couple more that I really need Craig, but there are a few after that I just want, and a couple that just look cool. So only about 15-20 to go, if I make a few cuts in my list.

I wouldn't steal MOC's birthday present. If he wants to sell it, I might look at it though.

Really I'm looking for a rifle.

It's practically a rifle. It's 14.5 inches long, you goatee-wearing freak.

It's still not what I'm looking for, but if I change my mind, I'll see what Craig wants for it. He's not much of a gun type of guy, so I might get it cheep.

Dave T, you might look at dressing up a 10-22. there are triggers, barrells and the like that can make them extrmely accurate.

Dave,

Check your PM's.

A good bolt action .22 LR, that will be around for ever. Hmmm, The name Ruger comes to mind, in the excellent 77/22. you can have your pick of walnut & blued, or stainless synthetic. Comes with integral scope mounts and complimentary rings. Put a nice scope on and shoot for years. I have a wood and blue with sites, not what I wanted but I had the money, the guy at the gun show wanted to sell and thus it happened. Personally I would love to have one of the stainless synthetic, with no sites on the barrel, put a fixed 4x Leupold or a 2-7 leupold on it and never look back. The triggers are sometimes not the best but that is an easy remedy or you can buy drop in trigger kits.

I recently bought a Rumanian "Officers Training Rifle" .22 cailber, bolt action, 5 shot, clip fed rifle from Southern Ohio Guns for $59.00 plus $5.00 for a spare magazine. I did take the $10.00 option to have an excellant one hand picked by SOG. It only weighs approx. 4 pounds. It doesn't look pretty but it shoots a five hole pattern off a rest that you can cover with a quarter at 50 yards. I have done it numerous times and I am not the worlds greatest shot. I liked it so well that within a month of buying it, I bouhgt another one for my GrandSon and he gets almost as good results when shooting.

I have been leaning towards one of these.

I was seriously looking at the 452, but now the 453 with single set trigger is available I have been leaning that way. I would prefer having open sights on the gun as well.

Does anyone have a CZ or any experience with them?

Browning lever action. My brother had one and it was pretty sweet.
