Now mind you it has been a few years since I had the time to bowhunt, so I don't do it no more. But...here lately as I have been out and about killin some doves and checkin on a teal spot or two I have noticed something that is odd to me.
They aint hardly one patch of silage in these here parts as of yet....let alone an early field or two picked? What gives?
The corn is brown enough the moisture content has to be getting low. My thought is we have had soo much rain around here lately they can't get the combines going - but I aint sure.
Anyone observe the same thing in their area? Sure is going to give them spotted spike bucks a bunch of extra hiding room until they start gettin it out.

It was crazy last year in gun season with the ammount of corn still standing.

Dabs - Corn is still standing out in our area. Talked to one farmer last week or so and he said due to the drought he wasn't sure it was even going to be worth combining when the ground did dry out enough. Given fuel prices and the amount of harvest they can expect, they may be $$ ahead to let the corn stay in the field.

The dude I talked to said he was going to make a test swipe and do some ciphering on profits/losses. He said if he was going to lose $$ by harvesting he would let the corn stand. I think it was more disgust talking because at some point he's going to have to take the stalks out to plant next year.
