Thank you Mr Moody!!!

Post by hobiecat » January 17th, 2006, 10:05 am

Well, could the last two games have been any more exciting??!!

That Colorado game sucked the way it ended... but was still a good game.

The KU game last night was even better... and man what an ending!!
I was drunk the day my momma got outta prison.

We definitely need to thank Moody and the poor coaching by Bill Self, or it would have been over in regulation. It was amazing how poorly KU played in the last couple of minutes after dominating on defense all evening. It's great listening to all the Chickenhawk excuses on sports radio this morning in Kansas City.

The Tigers are definitely the cardiac kids this season and are keeping it interesting.

Two great games in three days. I watched the whole KU game with my son last night - man, what a cliffhanger. I was tuckin him in after the game, and he said that it was the best game he had ever watched. And considering he has only been watching games for maybe two years - he is right.

How many lead changes were there last night? I'm guessing it was at least 20. I don't think that you can say KU dominated on defense all evening when the lead was changing every two minutes...
A clear conscience is the sign of a bad memory.

JD, mon ESPN they said there were I think 6 lead changes in the first part of the overtime alone...It was a very good game compared to what I have seen from them during the early season stuff.
That's funny you don't look Druish.

JD, I guess I meant comparatively to Mizzou. Anytime a single player can score 40 points, it wasn't a truly dominating defensive performance. Mizzou did have an 8 1/2 minute drought in the second half, which is partly due to good defense by KU and poor shot selection by Mizzou. They were held to under 50% FG shooting the whole game, which KU was above 50%. They outrebounded us and were even in turnovers.

However, the big difference was that Mizzou made 43% of their 3-pointers while KU only made 23% of them, and Mizzou was 76% on free throws while KU went 60%, including 2 devastating misses! Image Image

It is going to catch up with the Tigers sometime if they keep standing around on offense and not getting back on defense. Moody should have never been open under the basket at the end of regulation to begin with.

I have to give Quin credit- his changing of defenses in the second half was a good move and he was focused until the end, even when they were down by 7 in the last minute of regulation. Self didn't seem as focused, as they showed him smiling and acting self-assured in that same time period. He made some poor coaching moves that cost him the game.

I'm glad to see Mizzou at the top of the conference, and KU towards the bottom (first time they are below .500 in the Big 12 since its inception). Image
