Great.... stuff like this scares the he11 out of me. I have done some reading on this and it sounds like the potential for infection is typically where there are high concentrations of deer. In fact, and correct me if I am wrong. I got the impression its absorbed through the hoofs. For instance, a mineral lick or heavily traveled paths.

The reason immune systems do not destroy prions is that they are proteins that are supposed to be in the body. Immune systems work by seeking out foreign bodies using receptors on white blood cells (WBCs). Since prions are basically improperly folded proteins, they aren't recognized as harmful by the WBCs.

It is very unlikely that a deer could get it through the hooves by walking where an infected deer had walked. I'm guessing that the disease may be spread when deer gnaw on shed Image from infected deer, though I haven't seen any studies to back that theory.

Feeder in the singular form LP. You should see the wheatfield though. Man I have a deer buffet up on the sanctuary.

Deer eat plants. Couldn`t that make viroids relevant in this discussion?

You're way more likely to get lyme desease from a tick than CWD from eating deer. If you're really worried about it, just stay away from the brain, bones, and spinal fluid of deer, and there is basically zero chance of getting CWD.

If lyme desease doesn't scare you out of the woods, then worrying about CWD is a waste of time.

If I ever kill a 160" buck, I'm gonna skull fornicate that son of a femaledog until I blow a nut or expire from trying. As long as I keep whacking sammiches, I don't guess there is any need of me worrying about CWD in the near future I don't guess.

MOCraig & I have the same problem. Our brains are so big, they push hair follicles right out of the scalp. It's a curse, I tell ya.

Too bad there's no relation between a large brain, and a person's intelligence.
