Had three toms and three hens in the field in front of the house last night. When I go out on saturday they willl be nowhere to be found. We have a lot of birds hanging out at our place, just got to get out and pop one.

I went on Saturday and conditions were not that great- cold morning and east winds which stiffled gobbling and bird sightings. The late foliage makes it very hard to sneak up to the edge of these fields. On top of that, I saw a coyote running the fields just out of gun range which surely didn't help the turkey hunting.

I'm hoping the predicted warm and stable weather next weekend will change hunting for the better.

Nice to see a gobbler down- my hunting has been sporadic due to weather and roaming coyotes.

The morel handle on the box call is pretty cool.

Speaking of morels, I am finding more than I am used to seeing in my normal spots. The timing of the cold weather has delayed the morel season by almost two weeks in my area so am finding them in my early spots but they seem to be doing well due to the rains this year between warm spells . The slower understory growth has helped in spotting them too. The next cold snap we are expecting tomorrow may doom them for this year though.
