I haven't tried an Avian-x, although earlier in my turkey hunting career I have used a jake/hen setup with some success.
Nowadays I tend to not use decoys because it seems for every gobbler it helps me bring in I also get a couple pissed off hens and the occasional predator, typically coyotes or hawks. While it is interesting to watch them attack the decoys, I can do that predator watching any time of the year.

I've killed 21 turkeys in 10 years of hunting. I have never used a decoy. I don't know why anyone would need to use a decoy. Unless I was on a hunting show and a sponsor gave me money to put them out. Then I would do it, but they would be irrelevant to my success.
