I think the problem with the Stl. Buck dude is that in his previous post he actually called somebody dumb, and then he typed something that needs to be read with a secret decoder ring that apparently non of us have. Heck, even Mocraig couldn't attempt to clean that post up!!!

2B, I have seen a couple of videos where this was done, and both worked out pretty well. In fact both times, the scrapes were taken over by the next morning. We actually tried it in out bottoms one year when we set up a camera down there, and it ended up opening up a community scrape that every deer in the area was using, uncluding 3 different bucks with 7 points or more, nothing huge, but it got real active. Lots of little bucks and does checking it out. They still use it every year, just a lot of nocturnal visits.

I have seen this used by a friend on one of the smaller tracts of land he hunts. He used it to pull some bucks off of a larger property that the tract was next to with good success. There were deer using the small patch he had, but they were mostly does. After he made a small scrape under a "licking Branch," we noticed a lot more buck tracks around his stand. Hardly scientific, but it looks like it works to us.
We walked ten miles for one stupid duck?

I heard about this really crazy strategy in which you go out and find an actual active scrape, and get this...

you hunt over it.

Pure craziness, I tell ya.

Hey Gooberlips, we are talking about making a licking branch in an area where there are no good licking branches, but there is known buck activity. Chances are, with no licking branches, there is likely not going to be any scrape around either, so we are making things happen. Also, sometimes when you find a good active scrape, there isn't a good tree around for a stand. So we are talking about bringing them into a good stand location. BRILLIANT!!! Image
