That slick head looks like she has some nice backstraps in her. Good eatin', and congrats on the spilt blood.

Then take more than one picture. I am not saying spread blood all over the thing. But if you are being "forced" to take such pictures, then that is a sad commentary on this sport. Might as well pose with a hand full of acorns and pretend to be feeding the SOB. Then we can all imagine it is still alive. Don't forget to claim it is soy-burgers on the grill if anyone you don't know walks by. I just don't like it.

You have to take the good with the bad Fishin. It is that simple. I figure last years mishaps were a long time coming.

BTW, I don't consider you guys my peers. My peers actually kill chit. Image Image

PS and counts, you both are missing the part of my post that said I took clean pix before any of this sponsor worry ever came about.

On the other hand, Counts will be happy to see the recovery footage. It is not staged, and the doe without the leaf was a bloody mess when we found it, lung blood all over her side and face. We did not avoid it, and even commented that though we don't exactly try to showcase blood, this is hunting and this is part of it.

I am not "forced" to take this type of pic, but choose to. I have no idea why anyone would choose to take a picture of a deer without cleaning it up first. Again, realize that the big green blanket isn't exactly what we were after with it.

Congrats on the doe Robin. Your turn Keith. As far as the blood. It's just a matter of what you are trying to acheive the record of the event. I seldom get pictures or like you said Robin. Bloody in the back of a pickup. Mostly because I hunt by myself most the time. Mostly because I am selfish and don't want anyone else in my stands stinking it up, moving around, and alerting all the deer in the area.

I'm not missing your point. I don't give a darn how you take your pictures yesterday, today, or tomorrow. My only point is that I'm glad that I don't have to worry about sponsors and what they will think. heck, I didn't even see the darn leaf. Everyone of my pictures has blood and gore and there are some that I have put the tongue in the mouth purposefully. If I am thinking about it, I will put the tongue in. If not, I don't really care one way or the other. I'm a deer hunter, not a photographer.

PS told me that he wasn't going to kill diddly squat this year, because his neighbor shot all of them during the summer.

Aimlow, you boys are right on the money with that stuff. Outdoor photography needs a lot of elements and kill shots are the most risky. Even for outdoor magazines and books. Sometimes just having a redneck posing with something dead has no real value whatsoever. On the other hand to stay on the correct side of that very fine line you'll have good supporting photos that portray the mood.

Yeah, I guess if your peers kill 130's and are happy have at it. I am not a big buck killer and by that I mean Missouri big bucks but I am still a killer. How many deer have you killed this year PS, oh wait I know, zero! Image

You are still a hero in my book, I am hopeful that I can drop my gun out of my tree stand this year or possibly my bow Image Image

TTTN,

I bet that was a short tracking job.

Last night, I watched a hunting show where they were bowhunting turkeys with the Gobbler Guillotine. Showed some slow-motion shots of turkeys losing their heads, with gore & blood flying everywhere. They weren't attempting to soften the image at all.

I like to see the whole hole. The leaf detracts from that.
TTN-The head shot on the button was a pic I could do without. And don't talk about 2B like he isn't here.

I should explain that pic. It's my cow elk. I tracked her 300 some yards when I found her. She was still trying to get up and I wanted to end the suffering as fast as possible. That was the most viable option. You see the truth is, I fixed the other pictures so that it wouldn't show. You don't always need the gory details. That picture is also a good testiment to using GOOD bullets on elk. Had the bullet performed better that extra shot would not have been needed.

Robin didn't take the pictures anyhow, I did. He just poses for them.

MOC, Im getting pretty good at being Robins videographer and photographer. I may just stick with that. I haven't even pulled my bow back on an animal yet this fall.

Fishin: I have sat a stand 4 times this year. I would nearly bet all the $ in my back pocket that I have had more deer within 20 yards than most will probably see the entire season. In fact, probably more bucks within 20 yards than most will see. I don't have to kill deer anymore to prove that I can do it. A dropped gun, a cut finger, a lost deer; funny thing is, none of this set me back one iota. Found the deer. Had the gun fixed in 2 days time. The cut finger was after the season.
