I'd given him the benefit of the doubt and assumed that he got a severe quartering-away shot. Also, I figure PS must've been in the St. Louis area visiting the in-laws.

He made a trip all the way from IL to NW MO to rifle hunt. On his way back to St. Louis, he stopped by in Columbia.

That, and it's old. I would have to guess him at 5.5yrs minimum.

I love those stickers at the base of the Image. That's the kinda trash that leaves deep grooves in the rubs that give me a monster boner.

OK...here is what happened. The buck was chasing a doe which had ran into a creek with steep banks. The creek was about 18 yds from me. The buck lost track of her and went down into the creek. I am guessing that he felt he would have a better vantage point to locate her if he got to higher ground. That was where the things came together.

The buck climbed up the steep bank with two hops and was facing right at me at about 17 yds. He looked around and then started turning to the left. Once Nick,(who was filming), said he was on him, I drew back. The buck was turned just enough to be vulnerable. The arrow went right through his right lung down through the liver and exited out his left back ribs. He staggered immediately took a few hops and then went down about 40 yds away. He expired immediately, which thank God, took the stress out of wondering how it all would end.

I have never understood why people do not smile with their animal. It only makes sense to me.

Super nice buck Keith!! Been a while since I talked to you online and was just wondering how things are going, and according to the pic things couldn't be better. I've not connected yet this year on a buck but I've seen a bruiser on three occassions, just didn't work out. We get some snow on the ground and I'll head back out and see if I can whack him with a Muzzy. Congrats again on a dandy!! Image
